In order to make it easier for manufacturers to export their products to the United States, the FCC will reduce the product certification burden and provide more flexible label usage guidelines. The measures are as follows:
Simplify the self-approval process-Streamline the Self-Application Product.
The FCC currently requires manufacturers to approve(sDoc) certain equipment through one of two processes. The order consolidates these processes into one, called a supplier's declaration of compliance. This will both simplify and reduce the burden associated with the equipment authorization process.
Allow electronic tags-Alllow Electric Labeling.
The FCC will require the use of electronic labels that will display the information required under our rules on products or otherwise provided products such as FCC identification numbers and compliance declarations. This would codify the existing practices of many commissions and meet specific legislative requirements. The use of electronic tags rather than permanent physical tags reduces the cost to manufacturers.
Mitigating heavy import requirements-Ease Burdenhome Impact Regiretents.
The order will eliminate the requirement for import declarations for RF equipment submitted to the United States to Customs and Border Protection(CBP). Given the current means of import and marketing, CBP itself collects additional information, as well as the wealth of information made available online, this requirement is increasingly outdated and onerous. The order would also amend the rules of the Committee to clarify compliance requirements relating to the import of equipment and, in some cases, provide additional flexibility.
Update measurement procedures and clarification standards-Update Products and Clarify States.
The order will modify the committee's measurement procedures to simplify and integrate the requirements of the equipment used in the different services. This will increase our agility to changes in technical and industry standards and enhance our overall understanding of the Commission's measurement requirements.
Questions and answers:
1. What is SDoC
SDoC,(Supplier's Protocol), the equipment supplier will test the equipment that meets the specified standards or requirements and provide proof to the public in a manner that the equipment meets the requirements.
2. Scope of application
SDoC will replace FCC Verification and DoC authentication programs, and all devices suitable for FCC Verification and DoC authentication programs can adopt SDoC authentication programs.
3. Implementation Date and Transition Period
The formal regulations take effect immediately after they are published on the Federal Register. But there's a year of transition. During the transition period, you can choose to continue using FCC Verfication and DoC authentication programs. The FCC Verfication and DoC certification procedures before the transition period are always valid, and unless the product is modified, re-certification is required. (No official documents have yet been released, looking forward to ing)
4. Change Notes
At that time, all products that meet the SDOC certification program will be able to type the FCC logo. At the same time, SDoC will require the addition of a compliance statement to the attached document for the device. The compliance statement shall contain the necessary information such as the device liability contact person, address or contact address. Specific regulatory standards and guidance documents are still being further explored by the FCC.
At the same time, the original FCC ID authentication program remains unchanged!
