GEMS Certification Introduction
In order to increase energy efficiency and improve economic and environmental efficiency in electrical equipment and products(residential, commercial and industrial), Australia and New Zealand have issued Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards Bill 2012(GEMS), It entered into force on October 1, 2012. The new GEMS regulations not only cover the major policies of the past: mandatory energy performance standards(MEPS), energy efficiency labels(ERLS), and equipment energy efficiency plans(E3), And expand energy efficiency to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy efficiency, and make appropriate choices from the perspective of enterprises and consumers operating costs throughout the life cycle of products.
From October 1, 2012, Australia and New Zealand will use energy efficiency certification GEMS certification to replace the previous Australian energy efficiency MEPS certification. GEMS certification is mandatory. Products within the control must have GEMS certification to be sold on the market, and applicants must be locally registered companies in Australia.
