Introduction to EU RED Certification
Directive 1999/5/EC has been in force for many years and many places do not satisfy existing products. In fact, the European Union had already begun drafting new instructions in 2007, but the progress was not so fast. So in 2011, a draft was submitted to the Commission. Finally, on May 22, 2014, the European Union officially announced the new version of the wireless equipment directive RED 2014/53/EU. The directive was based on the EU's new CE Framework Resolution 768/2008/EC, and RED 2014/53/EU replaced the original EU wireless device directive R& TTE-D 1999/5/EC. There is a two-year transition period from the official announcement of the new EU directive and its entry into force. From June 13, 2016, the original R& TTE Directive 1999/5/EC will be repealed, and products that have been evaluated under the old Directive can continue to be sold until June 13, 2017. After June 13, 2017, only wireless devices under the new RED 2014/53/EU assessment are allowed to be sold on the EU market. The purpose of the new directive is to clarify the spectrum use range, improve the effectiveness of spectrum use, and facilitate the implementation of regulations and market monitoring among member countries.
Before wireless products can be legally sold in EU countries, they must be approved according to the RED directive and must also have CE-mark. Wireless remote control products must meet the RED directive RED 2014/53/EU requirements.
RED authentication scope
1, short-range wireless remote control products(SRD) such as: remote control toy cars, remote control alarm systems, remote control doorbell, remote control switch, remote control mouse, keyboard, etc.;
2, professional radio remote control products(PMR) such as: professional wireless walkie-talkies, wireless microphones, etc.;
3, wireless telephone CTO, CT1, CT1;
4, ISDN(digital telephone products);
5, DECT(enhanced digital wireless phone);
6, mobile GSM, WCDMA, LTE test;
Bluetooth products such as: Bluetooth headset;
8, working frequency & lt; 9 kHz sensor data transmission device;
9, radio broadcast receiver equipment.
RED certification and old R& The difference between TTE
1, RED product range only includes wireless communication and wireless identification devices(such as RFID, radar, mobile detection, etc.). RF devices that are not used for communication or identification will be controlled by EMC instructions and low voltage LVD instructions;
2, Cable communication terminal equipment(TTE) was removed, so the RED instruction is only used for wireless products;
3, radio broadcasting receivers are now included in the scope of RED instructions(previously covered in EMC instructions and low voltage LVD instructions);
4, command coverage frequency lower limit has been cancelled(previously R& The control start frequency of TTE is 9 kHz), and the upper limit is still 3000 GHz;
The assessment opinions of the announcement body have now been replaced by the "Type Inspection Certificate";
6, manufacturers can only use the CE mark with the announcement agency number(full quality assurance-Type H) after their quality system has been evaluated by the announcement agency;
The requirement for Category II equipment to notify national spectrum agencies is no longer required;
The marking(warning number) of the 8th and 2nd equipment is no longer needed, but warnings that are limited in use in some countries still need to appear on product packaging;
9, no longer need to appear in the user manual CE logo, but the manual must indicate the frequency band and transmission power used by the radio frequency;
10, Personal assessment kits are no longer controlled(that is, RED certification is not required);
11, the new instructions require the use of a unified charger;
The address and contact information of the manufacturer and importer must appear on the equipment, and when the equipment is too young, it can appear in the user manual.
These and other future changes will affect your company's product certification this year and in the coming years, so the new instructions must now be taken into account in the design and marketing of your products. Especially for products newly added to the instruction, such as:
Wireless broadcasting receiver equipment;
Working frequency & lt; 9 kHz sensor data transmission device.
Under the new EU Framework Resolution 768/2008/EC, the RED Directive also specifies the respective responsibilities of manufacturers, importers, distributors and EU representatives. The name of the manufacturer and importer and the address to which contact can be made must be identified on the product or on the accompanying manual.
RED Authentication Test Project
1, electromagnetic compatibility test(EMC test);
2, safety test LVD(in the new instruction, for battery input RF products, also require this test);
3, according to European ETSI standards for radio communication equipment testing(RF test);
4, European permission spectrum information circular(Notices);
5, CTR(TBR) test;
6, electrical safety and health protection test(SAR assessment).
Information required for RED certification
What? What?
1. User manual;
2. Circuit diagram;
3. Block Diagram(also called module function diagram);
4. Circuit route(PCB LAYOUT);
5. PCB plot;
6. Operation description(explanation of the block diagram);
7. List of components(BOM LIIST);
8. Label(label);
9. Antenna specification(or antenna gain map);
10. LVD report on charger;
11. Fixed-frequency software(also known as fixed-frequency program. This allows the launch module to be continuously launched at a certain frequency point. Certain specific products also require fixed-frequency control assistance to ensure that the fixed-frequency instruction is issued and received by the sample to be tested. General BT and Wi-Fi must be provided).
RED certification cycle
Regular 3-4 weeks, can be urgent.
