Properties of CE-PED Certification
In accordance with the WTO's principles of non-discrimination and national treatment, technical standards for products will be non-mandatory in order to eliminate trade barriers and ensure the free circulation of products, but for safety, health or environmental protection reasons, Governments can enact mandatory product technology regulations.
CE-PED is a mandatory regulation issued by the member states of the European Community on the legal agreement on the safety of pressurized equipment.
For PED certification, product technical standards are not mandatory unless the user specifies. Manufacturers are free to choose any technical standard, including Chinese standards(such as GB150).
However, all pressure-bearing devices in the CEPED category must be mandatory to meet the basic safety requirements specified in the instruction.
The meaning of PED
A uniform certification programme replaces the original rules of the EC member States, and its requirements for the design, manufacture and conformity evaluation of pressure-bearing equipment apply to all member States of the EC.
The CE Mark is a symbol that shows that it meets the requirements of the relevant instructions and is free to enter the European market and put into use.
Scope of PED certification
The CE-PED Directive is applicable to the design, manufacture and conformity assessment of pressure-bearing equipment and complete sets of equipment with a maximum working pressure of PS greater than 0.5 bar.
